The Silver Club is run by Heather Melvin and Alison Cowin, our qualified and highly experienced instructors. It encompasses aqua-fit style exercise held in the shallow end of our pool (a depth of 1.1m or approx. 3 feet). The club is aimed at more mature swimmers who want to increase fitness, mobility and cardiovascular health and therefore delivers a more gentle range of exercises with many modifications so you can adapt the program to ensure you feel comfortable and safe at all times.
Exercise in water can often be a much better option for those people who would potentially struggle to exercise on land due to physical health issues. This is because the buoyancy created by the water can reduce body weight by up to 75% leading to a significantly reduced impact to bones, joints and ligaments on landing. Hence, coupled with a significantly reduced risk of falling, these factors make water based exercise a safe and comfortable experience for most.
